VLF F1 Roadster Screams Into Shanghai With 745 HP

Monster power married to sublime drop-top styling.

This is VLF Automotive’s F1 Roadster, the drop-top variant of the stunning . Created Gilbert Villireal, Bob Lutz and Henrik Fisker, the F1 Coupe and Roadster are a pair of no-holds-barred sports cars aimed at buyers wanting something at the extreme end of the driving spectrum. Created to deliver the ultimate open air driving experience with unique styling penned by Henrik Fisker, the F1 Roadster cuts a sharp silhouette with classic roadster proportions, a low and long rear deck, and low windshield.

The carbon-fiber body sports a polished carbon-fiber front spoiler, top mirror caps and rear diffusor, with Ultra Thin Ventilated (UTV) laser blade taillights and LED DRLs up front. The immaculate attention to detail of the exterior continues through to the cabin, where ultra-soft hand-stitched leather is complemented by milled-aluminum detailing. Under the long hood sits a 8.4-liter V10 borrowed from the Viper, sending 745 horsepower and 638 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual. A sport exhaust ensures a feast for the ears when blasting through winding country roads. Thanks to the lightweight manual soft top replacing the roof and a lack of rear glass, the Roadster is in fact lighter than its coupe cousin, weighing in at just 1,450 kg.

To handle all that grunt, the F1 Roadster maintains the coupe’s active suspension and 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero rubber: 305s up front and 355s in the rear. At $270,000, the VLF F1 Roadster will be priced just above the Force 1 coupe with production to start in August this year.
