This Is The Next Best Thing To The New BMW M5

If you can’t wait for the new M5 to arrive, AC Schnitzer’s new 5 Series tuning packs could be for you.

The 2018 BMW 5 Series , but that hasn’t stopped renowned tuner AC Schnitzer from powering up the 5 Series sedan and with a new range of tuning kits. In fact, the 5 Series is so fresh that AC Schnitzer is still developing kits for remaining models. Right now, performance upgrades are only available for two 5-Series models: the 540i and the 530d. For the gasoline-powered variant, power from the 3.0-liter inline six has been raised from 340 to a whopping 400 horsepower.

Owners of the diesel-powered 530d, on the other hand, can enjoy a hefty power bump from 265 to 315 hp. AC Schnitzer also promises that the M550i, 530i, and 520d will be receiving engine upgrades in the future. Elsewhere, AC Schnitzer’s new tuning package includes a wealth of exterior and interior enhancements, including a new exhaust system with stainless steel tailpipes that creates a more aggressive soundtrack for the 5 Series. A body kit gives both the sedan and wagon a sportier appearance, thanks to a new front spoiler, splitter, side skirts, and diffuser. A roof spoiler and rear spoiler spruces up the sedan, and a carbon racing rear wing is said to be available shortly.

Wagon owners can also add a rear roof wing that provides additional downforce and reduces drag. A suspension spring kit is available for all models which lowers the car by around 25 mm at the front and around 20 mm at the rear. Inside, the 5 Series benefits from AC Schnitzer’s aluminum trim for the pedals, and a set of velour floor mats. If, however, you’re looking for a more potent 5 Series, it might be worth waiting a little longer because BMW will next month. The hi-po 5er is rumored to pack a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 600 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
