The Zonda Refuses To Die: Behold The One-Off Pagani Zonda Aether Roadster

The owner of the Ferrari SP38 has added another bespoke exotic to their collection.

It’s hard to believe the Zonda was put out of production in 2012 and replaced by the Huyara, because Pagani keeps churning out one-off special editions of the legendary hypercar. What you’re looking at here is the latest bespoke Zonda, officially dubbed the Pagani Zonda Aether, which made its world debut at the Pagani Raduno event in Italy. Details about Pagani’s latest one-off roadster are scarce, but we know it was commissioned by the owner of the one-off, F40-inspired, Ferrari SP38 unveiled last week.

Work on the latest bespoke Zonda started around a year ago. The exterior features a sumptuous mix of matte and gloss carbon fiber with contrasting red accents adorning the front and side, resulting in one of the most striking Zonda’s ever produced. Many parts are also inspired by the Zonda Cinque, including a carbon fiber roof scoop and the same air intakes on the rear arches. Other custom features include door straps instead of the normal door handles, a unique audio headset and a green push-button starter lifted from the Zonda R. There’s also a massive rear wing, black wheels, and a humungous rear diffuser.

Under the hood, the Zonda Aether is most likely powered by Pagani’s naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V12 delivering at least 760 hp, but reports suggest it could 800 horsepower on tap. Unlike most Zondas, the Aether sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The interior also matches the exterior, with a mix of black leather and alcantara with red accented stitching. The Aether is the latest in a long line of bespoke Zondas, including the , and . As long as there are wealthy clients willing to pay extortionate amounts for Pagani to commission these one-offs, the Zonda will seemingly continue to live on forever. Photo credits: , .
