With the P1 hypercar now over five years old and the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Mercedes-AMG Project One launching in 2019, McLaren is due a new halo hypercar. That would be the BP23 Hyper-GT, which the automaker claims will be the fastest McLaren road car ever when it forms part of the next-generation hypercar holy trinity in 2019. Aside from a few tantalizing sketch images, we have no idea what the BP23 Hyper-GT will look like when it enters production. Whereas other artists have imagined the McLaren’s P1's successor to look , Milano has envisioned a familiar design that’s heavily inspired by the 720S, with a few add-ons that make it look more aggressive. The most noticeable addition is the roof-mounted air intake similar to the Project One’s, complemented with a larger front splitter and more prominent side skirts.

The BP23 Hyper-GT will form part of McLaren’s Ultimate series line-up. Little has been revealed about the car, but so far we know it will adopt a 1+2 seating arrangement layout like the McLaren F1 before it. It’s already being billed as the fastest, most powerful, and most aerodynamic road-legal McLaren yet, but it won’t be track-focused. Instead, that role will be filled by the .
