The F-Type gets a facelift and some fancy new tech with the limited edition 400 Sport.
For the first time since its launch in 2012, Jaguar’s spiritual successor to the iconic E-Type, , is getting a refresh. Highlighting the new range is the limited-edition F-Type 400 Sport which comes with unique styling attributes, advanced tech and a performance boost. On-sale for one year only, the 400 Sport Launch Edition, to use its full name, is powered by an updated version of Jaguar’s supercharged 3.0-liter V6, which now generates 400 horsepower.
That’s a 20 hp boost from the previous 3.0-liter V6, but still nowhere near as savage as and R models, which retain Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8s to generate power outputs of 570 and 550 hp respectively. The 400 Sport will also benefit from an updated chassis, a “Super Performance braking system,” “Configurable Dynamics” and 20-inch wheels with a unique Dark Satin Grey finish, as well as unique yellow 400 Sport badges that stand out to show off the new F-Type's extra power and scarcity. The Sport Design Pack will give the 400 a sportier look, with a more prominent front splitter, extended side sills and rear diffuser finished in sleek Dark Satin Gray.
Rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants will be available, but both will be fitted with an eight-speed Quickshift automatic gearbox, which replaces the six-speed manual found in the previous F-Type of this spec. The entire range has undergone a refresh, too.
The 2018 F-Type line-up has received a facelift with new bumpers and full LED lights to give it a distinctive new look, as well as new Touch Pro infotainment tech including an 8-inch touchscreen display showing real time traffic and weather and share ETA functions. The new F-Type range also features advanced parking assists, which will seek out suitable sports and park in them for you, plus refinements to the interior such as new lightweight, slimline sports seats which are 8 kg lighter, as well as new chrome, carbon fiber and aluminium trim options. Any model can also be fitted with Siena Tan leather upholstery as part of the new range which goes on sale in Q1 2017.
Replacing the F-Type S in the new-line-up is the R-Dynamic, which is the new core model featuring the same 340 hp and 380 hp engine options, along with the usual combination of rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive drivetrains available, with added special alloy wheels and gloss black paint to the hood vents, front splitter, rear diffuser and side sills.
