Is Porsche Preparing An Even More Hardcore 911 GT2 RS?

Spy Video

A new 911 GT2 Prototype has been spotted being tested at Monza. What could Porsche be possibly cooking up?

Right now, the 911 GT2 RS is the thanks to a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six producing 690-horsepower resulting in a 0-62 mph time of 2.7 seconds and a 211 mph top speed, and an aggressive aerodynamic body. There’s always room for improvement, however, because it looks like Porsche is already preparing a more extreme variant. A new spy video shows a mystery 911 prototype being tested at Monza wearing similar aero body parts as the GT2 RS and a gargantuan rear wing.

The video shows the prototype Porsche 911 being pushed hard at the Monza circuit, and the suspension also gets a good workout as the driver clips the curb several times causing the car to gain air, presumably to test the handling. At this point it’s difficult to speculate what Porsche is cooking up here since the 911 GT2 RS only debuted a few months ago.

It’s possible that Porsche is working on an even more hardcore version of the 911 GT2 RS and has slapped on some more aero upgrades to further improve its performance - although Porsche should be pleased with the car’s performance considering it . Alternatively, we could be looking at the next generation of the 911 Cup or RSR track weapons, or possibly a new racecar based on the 911 GT2 RS. Whatever the case, Porsche is remaining silent about the mystery prototype, so we’ll have to wait for an official announcement. What do you think Porsche could be cooking up here? Let the speculation begin.
