First US McLaren F1 Sold For Record-Setting $15.62 Million

We honestly can’t say we were surprised. Not in the least. about its history being the first US market version (though converted from Euro-spec), and that, up until now, it’s . Its second and new owner, it’s just been reported by , has paid $15.62 million at the auction held last Friday at Pebble Beach. And yes, this is the most someone has ever paid for a McLaren F1, beating the $13.75 million F1 LM-spec sold at the same venue in 2015.

Chassis 044 was just one of seven McLaren F1s converted and federalized for street legal use in the US. However, it was converted back to its original spec for the auction, but the sale included the US parts. As you can see, the car is in absolutely pristine condition, and it includes all of its service records from day one.
