2018 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line Package Gives SUV New Look

Upgrades emphasize athletic side of the sporty SUV.

With every automaker under the sun creating SUVs and crossovers, trying to stand out from the crowd has become increasingly important. Volkswagen has for this is exact reason, and at the LA Auto Show this week the Tiguan was revealed as the latest to receive what is essentially a selection of cosmetic upgrades. The is already a sporty-looking SUV, and the new trim package simply accentuates its athletic side.

Exterior enhancements include a set of 19-inch Trenton aluminum alloys for SEL trims and 20-inch Braselton alloys on SEL Premium trims, R-Line badging, unique front and rear bumpers with stylish air intakes, a gloss black rear diffuser, and body-color wheel arches and side skirts. The interior of the Tiguan R-Line boasts the R-Line logo on the start screen lest you forget this is no ordinary model. An R-Line steering wheel badge, black headliner, stainless-steel sport pedal covers and stainless-steel door sills embossed with the R-Line logo round off the subtle cabin upgrades.

Like the stock Tiguan, the R-Line will feature Volkswagen’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The R-Line package on SEL trims is priced at $1,795, and also includes front and rear Park Distance Control (ParkPilot). As SEL Premium models already include ParkPilot, the R-Line package is priced at just $1,495. The VW Tiguan R-Line package is expected to go on sale at the start of 2018.
