Say hello to the PriuSRT8.
Steven King made millions writing about what we’re about to show you. Not necessarily the story, but the concept of such blatant disregard for society’s rules that it borders on sociopathy. The subject of this story is New York-based tuning shop , coming to us via , which is conjuring evil spirits by building a car that serves as a metaphorical middle finger towards environmentalism. Or maybe they just want the best sleeper on the road.
Some New York Tuners Decided To Stuff A 1,000-HP Hellcat Engine Into A Prius
In either case somewhere along the way, it was decided that a Hellcat engine just had to be stuffed into a Prius. Don’t worry if you’re feeling a bit confused right now, it’s natural. But brace yourself because things get even more weird. Apparently the 707 horsepower that the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 produces was deemed to be less than adequate, so the 2.4-liter supercharger was ditched and exchanged for a stonking 4.5-liter Whipple blower, enabling this Prius to lay claim to a 1,000 horsepower power plant. Suffice it to say, this thing will humiliate Mustangs, Camaros, and real Hellcats at the drag strip or on the streets. At least its name, PriuSRT8, is a fair warning to anyone who dares step up to it.

The main challenge behind the build is space. The Prius has an engine bay that’s very much not sized for V8s, and there’s little doubt that 1,000 horsepower going to the front wheels is a danger to society. Sociopathy, not stupidity, is the mantra. That’s why this ride will be a Prius only in appearance. Underneath the metal will be a fully built NHRA-approved tube chassis. Power is sent through a six-speed transmission and out to the rear wheels in order to leave the drag strip audience scratching their heads. The only dead giveaway on the exterior of this Prius? Those massive rear tires that look more than capable of putting down the power. That and whatever rumble the hellacious power plant is bound to make. Stay safe out there while sneering at Priuses.
